Learn how to weave a thick and thirsty towel (20 inch loom or wider) or dish cloth (16 inch loom) in a waffle weave pattern using a single reed and pick-up stick.
In this workshop you will learn how to plan and weave a waffle weave towel or dish cloth using threads doubled in the warp, and how to use floating selvedges to double your weft pick.
During the workshop, you will warp your loom and learn how to set up for waffle weave. Instructions for weaving a single or multiple towels will be provided.
Participants will need to have:
their own loom - 16 inches or wider,
a 10 dpi reed
1 pick-up stick
a threading hook
one or more cones/colours of warp and weft yarn in 8/2 cotton or cottolin.
Please bring a bagged lunch and beverage
Participants must be able to warp their loom independently and have basic weaving experience.
