About The Event

Instructor:  Beverly Levine

In this workshop you will learn to draw the pattern on the backing and choose the colours to make this tried and true pattern “sing”.  Recognizable as a popular quilt pattern this one lends itself easily to rug hooking.  It is also a great way to use up your “worms” !

The class piece is a 14” square which you can hook in stripes, squares, diagonal lines...use your imagination!  The samples pictured are hooked in either multi colour or monochromatic.  Colour and pattern are up to you.

You will be working on primitive linen (provided) and a #5 cut is suggested.

If you are using your noodles, you can incorporate #4 , but aim for the bulk of your strips to be #5.  If you are using uncut fabric for this project, do not precut.  Wait until class where you can see the backing and decide what cut you want to use.

Think about what colour you want the piece to be...multi bright?, multi pastel?, monochromatic?  I love them all!!  Look at the samples to help you decide.

Where will the piece go?  Will it become a pillow, a table center or a wall hanging?  This plays into the design and the colour choices.

Kits of wool fabric are available for an additional cost of $70.  They are available in multi or monochromatic.

Your backing is included in your registration.

You will need to bring your rug hooking equipment, frame/hoop, hook, glasses, scissors anything that makes rug hooking more enjoyable for you.  You should bring your cutter, if you have one.

You also need to bring your wool to hook the project! (If you are not buying the kit)

And remember to bring your lunch.
