About The Event

Instructor:  Lorna Ash, Shades of Ewe

This workshop is a hands-on introduction to all things spinning. 

You will begin by learning about the properties of wool and how these can affect your spinning and your textile projects.   You will then learn to spin on a drop spindle, and will gain skill and confidence in spinning singles and plying them to make a 2 ply yarn. 

Next we will look at a beautiful local fleece, learn to card that fleece, and then spin it.  Then a guided demonstration of how to spin on a spinning wheel, with the opportunity to try spinning on a wheel yourself. 

We will end our day by wet finishing our yarns, and discussing how to use hand spun yarn in various textile projects.

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.  Additional fee of $25 for materials.  Please pay to Lorna at start of workshop.

Please note workshops are kept small to make the most of your day. If you need to cancel, your workshop fee is non refundable but you can transfer your registration to someone else.
