About The Event
Join Lorna Ash, from Shades of Ewe Fibreworks and experience the next stage in creating Textured Yarns. In this workshop you will learn spinning techniques that build on the single ply techniques learned in Spinning Textured Yarns - Level 1. You’ll learn methods for core spinning, as well as plying techniques for creating spiral, super coil & stacks yarn.
You will be making several smaller skeins of yarn throughout the workshop as you learn these techniques.
Material list provided upon registration
Equipment Needed:
• Spinning wheel
• 2-3 empty bobbins
• Lazy Kate
• Niddy Noddy
• Jumbo Flyer (If you have one, but not required)
• At least 2 small containers that a ball of yarn can roll around in (bowl, small box, etc)
If you don’t have the necessary supplies on hand, texture packs and dyed braids are available for sale from Lorna prior to the start of class.
Skill Level: Participants should be familiar with how to spin on a spinning wheel, and be comfortable with the basics of drafting, making singles and plying, and be able to do these tasks without assistance. Participants should also have taken Spinning Textured Yarns - Level 1, or have experience in creating singles with varying thicknesses and amounts of twist (Thick n’Thin singles, stand alone singles yarns, etc.), as we will not have time to cover those techniques again in this class.
